It is becoming significantly difficult to ignore the fact that digital photography has started a new era of photography, which apparently revitalised whole swatches of photographic practice. Many darkroom manipulations are being now used in photo- editing programs and it makes the whole progress easier, faster, cost- effective and even fun.
Photoshop and the Internet attempt to defend the view that we are now in the era of “post- photography” although digital photography has not replaced the “normal” photography, as the images are being manipulated since the early days of photography. However, photo- editing has become more intense throughout the years due to technology and digital techniques which make editing faster and cheaper. Particularly, software called “Photoshop” which was developed by John and Thomas Knoll released in 1990 in a Mac only version, in 2005 rebranded Photoshop CS and was available as part of the Adobe programs. The latest invention in the market is Photoshop for iPad, which is the next step towards future of photo- editing.
One of the latest trends called HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography is intriguing due to its approaches to representation, especially as computers offer variety of solutions for photo manipulation. For instance, it can be experimented with different textures, patterns and shapes, as enhancing different features and colours to create High Dynamic Range images as the following example:
The example of the image proves that normal photo is taken one step to another level where imagination could play an important role, therefore the future of photography is developing every day to create more inspiring images to interact with the viewer and add little creative extra to our every day’s routine.
