Sophie Carey - Office Assistant
I am currently in my final year of a Business Management Degree at London Metropolitan University. I have been interested in Business since I began a GNVQ at school aged 15 years. Taking an A level in Business Studies after this confirmed that my career path needed to be related to Business. I have had a variety of work experience opportunities including retail and customer services. While taking my GCSEs in school I managed to arrange a work placement in a small IT company as a marketing assistant. This made me realise that I needed to take a Business course which would enable me to learn about marketing as well as other areas of Business.
My passion for marketing and events then came through a voluntary placement for a charity which I undertook last year. I hope to be able to start my career after university in marketing for a few years so that I can go on to gain a CIM qualification.
I grew up in Buckinghamshire where my family live but I have enjoyed living in London since being a student.
I like getting involved in student life and I belong to The SU Society.
My hobbies include listening to music, going to the gym and going out with my friends.
I am very excited to begin my internship with ICOC and I hope to make the most of this great opportunity.
Adriana Sanchez - Office Administrator
I am Colombian and so I speak Spanish fluently. I studied law at the ‘Universidad Libre’ in Bogota from 1998 until 2004 and I did a diploma in finance at the ‘Universidad Externado’ 2003. At these institutions I was able to hone my skills in communication, IT, team building, management and motivation which I used Davivienda Bank in Bogota as a debts consultant lawyer until 2005. I desire to improve myself further and for that reason, I am studying a certificate in Business Administration and another certificate in Customer Services.
I came to England in 2006 with the hope of accomplishing certain goals and I each time I complete an objective, I set myself new ones so as be a good role model for my three year old son. I worked as a branch manager of Cards Galore from 2006 until 2010 and now I want to start something new which is why for example, I am on the board of directors at my son’s nursery.
My interests include: dancing, reading, history, hiking, swimming and listening to music.
Florent Boidé - Intern
I am a French student who has finished high school, and I’m currently doing a two-year post –A level course in International Trade. That diploma has brought me a lot of technical skills for the business environment. I studied economic and sociology in high school and I am interested in working in business. I have never had professional experience in business before, so I think that my internship in ICOC will be a good opportunity for my future job. I hope this internship will bring me skills and a business mind to work as a real businessman. My hobbies are listening to music, going out with friends and watching movies.
